I found yoga during a challenging time in my life. I was able to use the practice to start healing both physically and emotionally. In 2006 I completed my hot yoga certification and more recently became certified as a Forrest yoga instructor.
My classes emphasize creating a calm state through deep breathing and longer holds. My intention is to help people heal themselves through their yoga practice.
Larissa’s teaching has evolved into an intelligent, organic Vinyasa flow, reflecting her creativity and love of learning and movement. Over the last 13 years, Larissa’s yoga experience has grown, changed, shifted and presented valuable life lessons that have, in turn, had profound impacts on Larissa as a woman, wife, mother and teacher. Having lived overseas for 3 years, Larissa learned the importance of community, love and friendship. Larissa firmly believes that what you put out into the universe will come back to you, which is why she teaches from a place of humor, compassion and humility.
Through playful sequencing, Larissa creates a space in her classes for her students to gain a deeper understanding of a pose and of themselves. Larissa’s classes are both physically and mentally challenging, but are taught with a lightness and humor that almost allow you to forget you are working so hard. When not practicing, Larissa is usually surrounded by her family; her husband and her two children, Jaden and Alec.
I found yoga during a storm of growth. During my intense process, I found peace and acceptance. I found myself. In May of 2008 I completed my teacher training and registered with Yoga Alliance.
I have always been interested in the human body and the way it moves. I feel that human expression through movement is an authentic way to connect with ourselves. My passion for the body first led me to dance at a very young age. This inspired me to pursue a B.A. in Dance from Colorado College, which I completed in 2003. My continuing interest led me to Boulder College of Massage Therapy where I am currently taking class. I am excited to graduate in December 2010!
My classes focus on drawing awareness to your breath and alignment while allowing space for self-discovery. Setting intentions for class, opening chakras, and guided meditations are tools I invite you to use as a way of navigating deeper into yourself.
I started practicing yoga in 2001 for back issues I was trying to manage with other modalities, but found yoga to be the practice to alleviate my back problems. Not only did my back feel better, but I discovered yoga to be revitalizing and energizing for my body while bringing balance and harmony to all aspects of my life. This inspired me to get my teacher training certification in 2005 in Fort Collins.
Since I became a yoga instructor, I have witnessed people recover from injuries and misalignment through a regular yoga practice. I have studied various styles of yoga including Anusara, Bikram, Yin and Vinyasa. I like to focus on alignment, strength and breath. I believe that yoga brings awareness to the needs of the body and coaxes it into making adjustments through asanas to not only keep the body in good health, but the mind as well. Yoga is a fine way to keep physically and spiritually fit.
Jason Bowman began the journey of yoga while studying audio engineering at the University of Colorado. Always drawn to the meeting point between art and technology, yoga was an intuitive avenue to explore their union. Jason's classes encourage a personal examination of the space between theory and direct experience and his love for the practice shines through in his ability to teach with a concrete yet creative voice.
He has been greatly influenced by the simplicity and rigor of Ashtanga Yoga and he has found much inspiration in recent years through study with Richard Freeman and Maty Ezraty. He completed Freeman's Teacher Intensive in 2010 and 2011, Ezraty's in 2011 and teaches at several venues in his hometown of Boulder, Colorado. Jason has a knack for breaking down poses with a keen eye for detail and his classes strive to create a light-hearted environment of no-frills inquiry.
Tunde has a passion for self discovery and awareness. Through yoga, dance, and other forms of body expression she finds a deep connection to Essence and Spirit. Her love for travel and adventure has shaped and molded who she is today. Tunde’s Vinyasa yoga classes combines spirituality, strength, focus and relaxation. Her joy and playfulness spills off her mat and into her daily life.
Tunde loves Vinyasa yoga, teaching it, breathing it, and being it. Her love of inversions can be found in all of her classes and her workshops. She has a deep yearning to continue to learn and grow as both student and instructor. Cultivating unlimited abundance, joy and love in this world is done as individuals, and together with our yoga community. Through the vibration of movement, sound, mediation, and stillness, she invites you to participate in one her classes
As a nationally ranked diver and coach, Jo was no stranger to competition and pushing her body past its limits. But in 1999 when she took her first yoga class, she realized that she had found a new emotional and physical outlet that would bring more balance to her life.
In 2003 she began teaching yoga in Boulder. Just as she started her path as a yoga teacher, she took a summer job working for an outdoor travel company biking across the U.S. from Savannah, GA to Santa Monica, CA. During the trip, Jo was hit on her bicycle by a truck. From the accident Jo sustained multiple spinal fractures and loss of movement. It was truly then that her yoga journey began. Over the next 3 years she used yoga to rehabilitate her body. Traditional medicine was unable to help her with her back pain, and yoga was the only thing that would give her any relief.
After experiencing such a traumatic accident, Jo realized that she needed to bring both emotional and physical healing to other people. In 2003 she completed her first yoga teacher training. Most recently, she completed a teacher training with Ana Forrest. She now teaches both Vinyasa and Forrest yoga. Jo’s intent as a yoga instructor is to guide her students through their own journey of emotional, physical, and spiritual healing.
As a yoga instructor, studio owner and nutrition enthusiast, my personal mission statement is “to inspire others to embrace their potential, accomplish their dreams and experience the joy that is discovered through living passionately.”
I am thrilled to co-own the Yoga Pod with my husband, Gerry. It is a dream come true for us to share this exciting endeavor where every day I can explore the beauty of yoga with our friends at the pod. Gerry and I are also business partners in PEP, inc., an organizational development/motivational consulting firm.
My interest in yoga began in 2000 and it soon became a great passion in my life, leading me to explore a variety of yoga styles. I completed my Registered Yoga Teacher training in 2007 and desire to continue to grow in my practice, striving to serve my students in an attempt to return to them some of the joy and inspiration that they offer me everyday.
I love the balance yoga brings me, and the effect and results I see in others. Yoga, coupled with my vegetarian lifestyle, resonates with my soul and keeps me in peaceful harmony of mind, body and spirit.
May everyone live with passion, enjoy each moment for what it is, and remember to breathe, breathe, breathe…….!Nicole Wienholt
Gerry’s personal mission is “to enliven the passion of people, leading them to excel in the fulfillment of their purpose and compelling them to accomplish extraordinary results.”

Subsequently, and with conviction, he desires to impart those concepts in his leadership of the Yoga Pod studio and in his yoga teaching.
As founder and owner of PEP inc., Gerry has traveled nationally and internationally consulting with a variety of organizations and individuals in the areas of Mission/Vision strategy, human performance, and organizational development. He is an accomplished motivational speaker, having delivered hundreds of presentations and keynote messages, and for over 16 years, has been an effective Life Coach and Sales/Negotiation consultant.

Julie has been practicing yoga for over ten years and continues to be inspired and amazed by the power of the practice. After having a baby in September 2009 she fully believes that our yoga practice is simply preparation for meeting life's greatest challenges with ease and grace. She believes that yoga is a vehicle for Self-discovery and a journey that teaches us to connect with our breath but also to one another on a deeper level.
Julie's passion for yoga led her to attend Bikram's teacher training in the Fall of 2003. She has been teaching ever since and feels blessed to share the gift of yoga. Julie hopes you will find her classes challenging, inspiring and full of love and compassion.
Laura, originally from the San Francisco bay area, has been teaching power yoga since spring of 2005. Her classes are fun and energizing and focus on the breath and alignment.
Laura continues her studies with integrative yoga therapy and is interested in the therapeutic affects of yoga asana, pranayama and mudra. Laura is a nationally certified massage therapist and teaches Thai yoga massage at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy.
Matt moved to Boulder in 1995 from Hyattsville, Maryland. He immediately fell in love with the Boulder area with all its majestic, natural beauty and open-hearted people. At a point in life when he felt painfully stuck, he discovered yoga and realized the power of yoga as a means of moving energy in his life and awakening some much needed self-love.
Studying Baptiste-style power Vinyasa, he completed his 200 hour teacher certification in the fall of 2007. In May 2009, he quit a well-paying job of 12 years to put all of his energies into developing as a yoga teacher and student. With a consistent focus on compassion for one's self, he teaches classes that are both challenging and nurturing, and he continuously strives to connect people with a sense of their own innate divinity.
"Yoga is not about being flexible or even making yourself flexible. It is about meeting your inflexibility with kindness and curiosity. Yoga can be felt as the union between the limitless self and the separate self, between the global soul and the ego. During the asana practice we hold ourselves in gentleness underneath the challenge of the postures. We find our true selves by coming into our bodies with love rather than an agenda to fix or change something. We let ourselves feel, with extraordinary presence and honesty, the deep ache of being a human being. We seek to evolve and grow but still consistently allow self-compassion and grace to flourish beneath our effort."
Nancy Kate’s enchantment for the practice shines in her ability to hold space for students to go inside and create personal transformation in a fun, loving & supportive environment. Her classes focus on integrity of alignment and intention in every moment with sequencing that is thoughtful, deliberate, balanced and challenging. She trusts that it is through this precise way of practicing that we create the awareness to learn about our bodies, our selves and how we relate to the world...deepening all the connections in our lives.
Her passion for the foundation of yoga, it’s roots & philosophy, was ignited through her early training in the Sivananda organization. In search of a sustainable vinyasa practice based in alignment with an emphasis on philosophy she discovered Maya Yoga, and began to study with Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini completing several training programs at their studio on Maui. Most recently her teaching has been influenced by Shannon Paige Schneider, who Nancy Kate co-directs the Tillai Om Time teacher training with in Boulder, CO.
From all these amazing opportunities her teaching style unfolded into a fun, fluid vinyasa practice with conscious alignment. Nancy Kate is an ERYT-500 teacher that instructs from her personal practice and has studied extensively, completing over 1000 hours of teacher training programs. She believes that there is always more to learn as she welcomes the opportunity to evolve and grow as a student and a teacher.
Stephanie, aka ‘Nafi’, is passionate about yoga and channels her love for this practice through her teaching. Her classes are challenging and focus on principles of alignment, but most importantly she encourages her students to tune in to their own personal needs and practice from the heart.
Stephanie has been a student of the yoga tradition for well over a decade and has been teaching for the last 8 years. Her studies and trainings consist of a variety of yoga styles including Ashtanga, Anusara, Power Vinyasa, and Hatha yoga, and she brings a creative element to her teaching stemming from all of these traditions.
Considering herself a life long student, she is continually humbled by the amazing healing benefits and spiritual connection that asana brings to her life. Off the mat, Stephanie is an avid traveller, musician, and mother.
Rob grew up in Boulder with the beautiful flatirons as his backdrop and has always had an affinity for outdoor sports. With a background in martial arts, he used to be very competitive in nature and often pushed himself to the extreme in all of his undertakings - often at the expense of his own well-being. Although outgoing and active, he found himself continually longing for something deeper. Rob discovered yoga on a whim when he attended a class at his gym in 2005. He was drawn to come back to that same class week after week, not only for the physical challenge, but also to soak in the presence of his teacher who exuded the peace of mind, self-love, and grace that Rob himself was seeking to cultivate.
In 2008, inspired by his teachers and driven by a deep recognition of the transformational power of yoga, he passionately began his daily practice. Since then, his life has blossomed in a myriad of positive ways. Rob realized that teaching yoga was his calling and he completed his first 200 hour Power Vinyasa teacher training in March 2010. By the end of the same year he was teaching full time and had completed his second 200 hour teacher training under the guidance of Shannon Paige Schneider. Rob has served as Lead Assistant for 3 consecutive 200 hour trainings and participated in international yoga retreats.
Rob’s passion for yoga is apparent and he dedicates himself to continually deepening his own practice as a student so he may serve more effectively as a teacher. His classes are challenging, intelligent, fun, and bring depth beyond just physical asana. “My wish is to inspire the expression of the Highest Self through practice and self-study on and off of our mats. Yoga reminds us of our innate, inlying perfection, so that this becomes an awakened reality in each of our worlds.”
I moved to Boulder from Southern California in 2008, after spending a majority of my professional & personal life in the cycling industry. I quickly began to search for a cross-training/off-season activity that didn't involve snow. Yoga is what I found and began to practice at the Pod, immediately knowing Yoga would be more than just a "past-time". I came to Yoga looking for some healing qualities, and surprisingly to me, I found an amazing community of supportive yogis, preventative/strengthening exercises & an awesome workout.
Yoga was the first thing that gave me the same level of workout in 60 minutes that took hours on the bike to produce. While I expected Yoga to "fix" what the bike "messed" up, I was amazed at how it prevented further injury and allowed me to be in a group but still on my own. As I began to practice daily, I knew participating in a 200hr Hot Yoga Teacher Training was a natural progression of my practice. I've always loved working with my body, now I have a way to share that with others through Yoga. I'm so honored to be teaching at the Pod, I look forward to practicing with you.
Laura Kupperman has been practicing yoga since 1995 when a friend fatefully dragged her to a Bikram yoga class in Los Angeles. Bikram yoga was Laura's first love, and she offers gratitude to her first teacher in Palo Alto, Christina McLeod. After training with Bikram in L.A., Laura began teaching in 2002. Since then Laura has also completed trainings in Yin Yoga with Paul Grilley, Pre-Natal Yoga with De West, Yoga for the Special Child with Sonia Sumar, and Richard Freeman's Essentials Immersion, plus many other workshops with master teachers.
Additionally Laura trained for over 1,000 hours to become a Professional Yoga Therapist through Integrative Yoga Therapy. She works privately with adults and children who are injured, recovering from surgery, or dealing with disease or chronic illness. She has established yoga programs in hospitals, rehab clinics, and physical therapy clinics, and is delighted to be part of the Yoga Pod team! Laura's practice and teaching of yoga is above all about using asana, pranayama, mudra, and meditation as a path toward greater happiness and well-being. Her style is compassionate and encouraging, with plenty of precise instruction. www.laurakupperman.com
A chronic overachiever, Jean Marie grew up practicing ballet but spent her early real-life adulthood as a miserable, stress-aholic lawyer in both Boston and New York City, until she figured out that if she didn’t do something soon, she would never get the chance to actually live. So in the space of a year, she quit her job, found her amazing teacher, Kelly Morris, and finally listened to the truth that had been banging on her door for years -- the truth that had brought her slowly but surely deeper and deeper into the world of yoga, from Baptiste Power Yoga to Bikram, until she ultimately discovered her passion for the hypnotic flow of Jivamutki-style vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga, and, of course, teaching.
Jean Marie’s classes focus on the oceanic flow of breath, getting out of your own way, and getting your butt (lovingly) kicked – she teaches what she likes to practice. She was trained in The Conquering Lion Yoga Teacher Training Program in New York City with the incomparable yoga goddess Kelly Morris, one of a small group of Senior Jivamukti Yoga Teachers in the world, and to whom she is forever grateful. Conquering Lion Yoga is one of the only programs that unite two sacred systems: the Indian tradition of Vinyasa and Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. She is also indebted to her many inspiring teachers in New York: Corey De Rosa, Lesley Desaulniers, and Tricia Donegan.
In 2010, Jean Marie completed a Prenatal Yoga Teaching Intensive with De West at The Yoga Workshop to broaden her understanding of the needs of pregnant and postpartum practitioners, as well as a vinyasa training with Shannon Paige Schneider. These days, Jean Marie is relishing her new role as a mom to a beautiful baby girl!
In Jean Marie’s class, you can expect challenging, flowing vinyasa sequences, breath awareness, hands-on adjustment, inspiring music, and a dollop of some teachings from the Indian Hatha Yoga and Tibetan Buddhist traditions – the plan is to ride the wave of breath into some sweaty yogic bliss. Bari began practicing Hot Yoga in 2002 when she moved to Boulder from Dallas, Tx. She immediately fell in love with it. She continued to practice hot yoga but expanded her horizons into other forms: Vinyasa, Yoga Sculpt (yoga with weights), Yin Yoga and took any workshop she could get into. She took the logical next step-- training to teach yoga, so she could share this passion with others.
Her goal in teaching yoga is for every student to find exactly what their body, mind and spirit needs. Before yoga, Bari was immersed in the fashion business working as a buyer for Neiman Marcus. Today, when not practicing yoga, she works as a personal style consultant. Fashion works externally, yoga internally--the perfect complement for building self-confidence. Bari is married with two teenage children.
Erin Keeley Phillips, (M.S., ERYT-200) is a die-hard lover of yoga, philosophy and psyche. She’s also a never-ending mother of an active toddler and a typical Boulder, Colorado athlete. She understands that each of us has a thorny, and yet fascinating, life story. Our stories determine how our bodies show up on our mats. Your empowerment to understand the nuances of your body, mind and spirit directly relates to your ability to understand, and therefore love, life again. Through her graceful guidance of the body, Erin helps us to understand that the more complex and tumultuous our life is, the more opportunity we have to harness a broader and brighter perspective.
Once a public school teacher, environmental engineer, gymnastics coach and Anusara Yoga teacher, Erin is masterful at bringing both science and expression to her teaching. She is currently the author of and a director for the Seva Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at the Yoga Pod in Boulder, Colorado. Her classes are strongly influenced by Nondual Tantric philosophy, Anusara, and Vinyasa Yoga. Most of all, Erin will welcome you with warmth, no matter the story you bring to your mat.
Denelle Numis is an Alignment-Based Vinyasa Yoga Therapist in Boulder, CO. Denelle received her 200-hour yoga teacher certificate from Tillai University at om time yoga with Shannon Paige Schneider & Chris Muchow. After completing her training, she also mentored subsequent teacher trainees at om time. Denelle also completed the Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training at Core Power Yoga and has studied with Yoga Pod owner, Nicole Wienholt to teach the Hot series at the Pod.
As a yoga therapist, Denelle encourages students to focus on alignment in their practice. By achieving a deeper connection with the body, Denelle hopes that her students can release any reservations and deeply connect with the movement and breath. With a strong background in modern dance, Denelle tries to create an authentic experience where her students can open their hearts, relax into their postures and be playful in their own practice. The most important part of Denelle's teaching is to remember to smile and have fun!
Every moment we are blessed with transformation and the opportunity to change our lives and the world we live in. What if we made an effort to reshape ourselves and positively contribute to our communities and environment?
The boundless potential for self-inquiry and self-improvement via yogic practices has driven my study of yoga. I initially turned to yoga as a replacement fitness for ballet, but it quickly became more than a "work-out." I started to notice that practicing yoga brought me joy, peace of mind, and optimism. It was good for me and it was good for the people around me.
Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, I have been blessed with the opportunity to practice yoga under many talented and inspiring teachers. Across the world, in Bali, Indonesia I trained with Rachel Hull and Anna Smallwood to become a certified yoga instructor. From my training with Shakti Spirit Yoga, I not only learned practical teaching skills, I fell into the vastness of Indian philosophy (thanks to Emil Wendel) and Ayurveda (with gratitude to Sujatha Kekada).
I continue to evolve my practice and teaching by further studying yoga. In early 2011 I explored the depths of Hot Yoga under the thoughtful guidance of Nicole Wienholt.
May our peace lie in the beauty of our journey.
Raj first became attracted to yoga twelve years ago. Drawn to the heat, he had an intense and consistent Bikram practice. After his introduction to Partner Yoga, he realized that it was a perfect way for him to open to the joy and playfulness of yoga. Raj unites the Yang of Acro Yoga with the Yin of Principle Based Partner Yoga. He teaches a variety of styles of yoga to all ages and levels, including partner, Vinyasa, Hot, Yin, and Restorative yoga. He also works with individuals and couples, creating an environment of openness and connection. The combination of his individual and partner yoga has created more playfulness in his practice. Yoga has allowed Raj to achieve greater focus, more balance in his life, and feel healthier in his body. When not on his mat, Raj can usually be found outside on the trails either solo, with some friends, or leading a group of kids.

Her abundance of experience includes numerous teacher trainings, as well as comprehensive study in women’s, prenatal and therapeutic yoga. Kirsten’s passion for yoga goes way beyond the physical practice. She delights in the intricacies of yoga philosophy, Sanskrit, and Indian music. Longing to broaden her experience of all aspects of yoga, Kirsten has travelled around the world where she has been fortunate to study with many incredible teachers over the years. She continues to be inspired by her most influential teachers, John Friend, Sofia Diaz and Douglas Brooks.
A certified instructor since 1998, Kirsten shares the wisdom of her teachers with grace, clarity and a compassionate heart. Her classes are infused with mindfulness and an invitation to embrace all of life more fully. Inspired by her background in psychology and her real life experiences as a mother, Kirsten makes each class memorable by weaving in meaningful themes and using the yoga to anchor them in the body. She artfully guides students to discover the freedom and joy that can come from paying close attention to the details of alignment while never losing their connection with the deepest reasons for their practice.
Cindy Lusk began practicing yoga in 1985, while pursuing graduate studies in social psychology. She studied Ashtanga Yoga extensively with Richard Freeman and Pattabhi Jois, and began teaching at Richard’s studio in 1994. Cindy met John Friend at that studio in 1992, completed her first teacher training with him in 1999, and became a certified Anusara teacher in 2002, and is a leader in that community.
Cindy is an avid student of yoga philosophy and has studied extensively with leading tantric scholars Paul Muller-Ortega and Douglas Brooks. She brings these teachings into her classes and workshops, and teaches yoga philosophy courses as well.
Cindy’s teaching reflects her love of tantric yoga philosophy , grounded in her many years of study, in addition to being precise and light-hearted. Her students feel supported and report that her teaching has transformed their experience of yoga and of their lives.
I fell in love with yoga when I was a student at Colorado State University. Since then perpetual education has continued to enrich my appreciation for the practice. In 2008 I completed the 500+ hour Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Acapulco Mexico with Bikram Choudhury, in 2009, the Yin Yoga teacher training in Whistler Canada with Bernie Clark, in 2009, a meditation teacher's course in the lineage of Paramahansa Yogananda in Northern California, and in 2011, a 200 hour resident Astanga and Hatha Yoga teacher training in Rishikesh India with Mahesh Goyal .
Over the years I have taught in various studios in Colorado, New York, Costa Rica and Maui. Wherever I find myself teaching, it is my goal to empower students to use the process of alignment to open up the vast potential that lies beyond the purely physical practice. As my practice continues to evolve, I hope to honestly reflect those changes in sharing accesible, grounded and authentic classes.
Bill began studying yoga in 1981 with Richard Freeman and by the early 90ʼs his yoga practice had grown to be a central focus in his life. During his studies with K. Pattabhi Jois both in India and the United States, Bill greatly expanded his understanding and appreciation of the practice.
In 1994 Bill began teaching yoga at Richard Freeman's Yoga Workshop. He has been teaching ever since, all the while deepening his understanding of yoga and the mind/body connection.
Over the years Bill continues to explore yoga through advanced study with Richard Freeman, senior Iyengar instructor Gabriella Giubilaro, a variety of high caliber teachers and through the practice itself. His classes are a comfortable mix of sharing the details of alignment in the postures with a visceral understanding of the internal feelings that act as cues to movement within each posture.
Through the utilization of breath, drishti, bandhas, and a slightly irreverent sense of humor, Bill attempts to foster an environment where the student can feel their individual circumstances and work with them directly.

“I entered the door of yoga to find another way to exercise. It wasnʼt long that I realized I could let go of my destructive over-ambition and settle in to a practice that kept my body healthy while allowing myself to relax in to the beauty that is my life. I believe we are given hardships so that we can have compassion and help others who struggle with similar things. I struggle with chronic pain and depression and it is my sincere intention to use my knowledge in the field of yoga to serve those around me.”
David began studying yoga in 2002. "I remember in my first yoga class I was literally the most inflexible person in the western hemisphere! I could barely reach my hands past my knee caps in a forward fold." He came to yoga to improve his flexibility and to restore injuries he had sustained while playing soccer in college. He soon realized that yoga offered something much deeper than that. Over the years David has developed a real passion for the balancing of body and mind that a consistent yoga practice offers. After practicing Bikram Yoga for 4 years in California, he moved to Colorado and fell in love with Vinyasa, Anusara and Ashtanga.
He became certified as an instructor through the Yoga Alliance in early 2008. He strives to provide classes that are energetic and enthusiastic while at the same time soothing and peaceful. David is a very heart centered instructor who seeks to connect all students to their inner grin by helping them feel comfortable to express their most authentic self. A full time student of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, David hopes to inspire students on their humble journey of self realization to connect with their innate ability to heal themselves. Shanti, Shanti, Shanti. Peace, Peace, Peace.
My current motivation for teaching yoga is to share my passion for yoga with as many people as possible. Since I have been practicing yoga for 15+ years, I am amazed at the continued metamorphosis I go through on a spiritual, physical and emotional level as a result of my practice. Being a natural teacher and leader, it was after the first 5 years of practice that I realized that one of my callings was to teach and share this practice with others.
Yoga has enriched my life and hence all those I am in contact with in so many ways. I have been saddened beyond belief at certain points in my life by the pain and suffering that exists on this earth and in this world for many people. Most everyone experiences the need for healing and growth at some point in their lives. As a yoga instructor, this is one small but very significant way that I can help mankind and the world. By sharing with others how I have benefited through the physical practice of yoga and also the spiritual practice of yoga, hopefully they will have this new form of “therapy” that will forever help them get through life with a greater sense of ease and pleasure. This “therapy” of yoga is a wonderful way to maintain spiritual, mental and physical health. This practice is enriching during times of health and happiness as well as during times of sadness or the need for healing.
As a long time passionate volunteer for the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, my love and passion for animals and how much animals help humans (another form of therapy) is quite similar to my love and passion for yoga. I want to share both of these “therapies” and wonderful pleasures with the world.
Barb is a 200 RYT in Vinyasa and Conscious Flow . She is currently training with Jeanie Manchester and Cindy Lusk in Boulder and hopes to soon become an Anusara Inspired Yoga Instructor as well.
Camden’s yoga curiosity began with a yoga class in 1997 upon moving to San Francisco, California. As a personal trainer and boot camp fitness instructor, yoga provided a balance to an active lifestyle and sparked a new passion and path in her life. Camden and her husband, Luke have two sparkling present girls, Lily and Emma. Their family’s life is centered around simplicity, balance, being present in the moment, adventure and compassion.
In her life Camden has always played the edge . Her yoga is her path for living as it takes her to new edges every time on and off the mat! Indeed, reflections to learn from and continued growth! Just when you think you have arrived in yoga, Camden can take you to a new place that will allow you to open your heart and see through “fresh eyes.” The power of the practice is immeasurable. Kendra’s journey into yoga began with a deep desire for balance. The ebb and flow between movement and stillness, inhaling and exhaling teaches her daily that balance is not about standing still or being stuck in one spot, it’s about riding the waves of change adjusting as the currents of life shift to stay in that place of equilibrium. Each day, yoga helps get her a little bit closer to living in a more equanimous state of being.
Before transitioning into the world of yoga, Kendra spent years working in government, non-profits, and for private companies in law, communications, government affairs, and marketing. Though Kendra had practiced yoga since 2001, a cross-country move and the challenges of relocation and life changes in 2007 opened space for it to take on a new dimension in her life.
Initially attracted to yoga for health and stress-relieving benefits, she began to explore beyond the physical practice, and with her first teacher training she knew she needed to share it with others. After years in the goal-oriented, fast-paced professional world, Kendra shifted gears to a path of learning, self- discovery, and growth.
“When I discovered yoga, something opened deep within me. I found a connection to myself, my body, my spirit, and with others. Yoga brings dimensions of peace and well-being that had always seemed just out of reach. I am grateful for the gifts I receive each time I come to the mat. For me, yoga is about growth, discovery, letting go and digging deep. I am grateful each day to have the opportunity to share this with others.”
Alison has been practicing yoga since the first time she stumbled into a class with Richard Freeman in 1990. The celebration of embodiment is renewed each time she steps on the mat and remembers who she really is and what she has to offer.
Her greatest inspiration is her two sons, who also consistently remind her of the awe and gratitude of life through the light and joy they bring into the world. As a teacher, Alison provides a space for her students to delve deeper into the promise of their own experience.
“I hope to reflect to my students what it means to fully embrace each moment with love and gratitude as challenging as that may be,” says Alison. Her classes are challenging and ever- evolving.
Teacher, writer, spiritual activist , Livia is a yoga teacher whose work is dedicated to helping people re-wild their body, mind, and heart through the practice of yoga. Her yoga style is a thoughtful and creative blend of years of study in Anusara yoga, Rajanaka Tantric philosophy, modern psychology, 5 Rhythms dance and earth-based ritual ceremony. Livia’s classes always use clear alignment instruction through a philosophy of radical affirmation to help students expand their ranges of motion and emotion.
Alli has been teaching since 2004 when she completed the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Los Angeles. Since then, she has been a full-time student of yoga, on and off the mat. Her yoga adventures have included teaching stints in San Francisco, Aspen, and South Africa as well as subsequent power, vinyasa, and fusion yoga certifications with Core Power Yoga, Baron Baptiste, and Jimmy Barkan.
“Yoga is not taught but remembered. Our “yoga-union”, perfection, peace and joy – has already been accomplished, it’s only a matter of removing the optical and mental delusions that block our awareness of our own Divinity. You are the ultimate teacher because all Truth is in you, nowhere else. You are It. Your radiance can be found anywhere, because it is everywhere; it is an experience of your Self. The form your yoga takes is not important, only the content is essential. If you’re not sure how to begin the journey inward, the yoga mat is a great place to start. I’ll meet you there!”
Kate has practiced many styles of yoga over the years: classical Hatha, Vinyasa flow, Forrest, and Bikram. She completed Hot Yoga Teacher’s Training in December of 2008 and training with Ana Forrest in October of 2009. Her great love for Forrest Yoga has significantly impacted her practice, life, and spirit and has developed in her a greater understanding of the healing power of breath and honoring truth on and off the mat.
Kate has experience in many different interests: music, modeling, acting, children and teaching; but the constant love in her life for the past seventeen years has been her yoga mat! No matter what emotion that has flowed in and out of her life; loss, grief of losing loved ones, heartache, joy, contentment or just pure bliss; yoga has always created a place of grounding and clarity.
You will always find a smile on her face after she practices time and time again! Kate is truly honored to be able to bring her great passion for this art of healing to all that cross her path at the Yoga Pod!
After practicing intermittently for years, Sashi’s practice truly deepened and transformed once she started meditating. She found that by tuning in to the microcosm of her own internal world, she began to understand the external world around her with greater clarity, patience, ease, and joy. No longer was Yoga simply an alternative means to athleticism, or even some good deep stretching; it became a dance between the physical and the energetic… a moving meditation, that could be applied to every moment of the day. With intelligent and creative sequences that open the body, Sashi teaches a class that evolves through heat-building asana, into a more cooling, introspective end, so that ultimately, practitioners can sit in stillness.
Sashi received all 500 hours of her teaching certification from Yogiraj Alan Finger at ISHTA Yoga in New York City, where she taught until her recent move to Boulder. Before she found yoga, she received her B.F.A from New York University in Theatre with a strong focus in poetry, and continues to draw upon her background in the arts as well as her passion for Tantric philosophy to infuse her classes with a mix of wisdom, inspiration, and joy from both the Western as well as Eastern worlds. Currently she is working towards her Masters this fall in Transpersonal Psychology at Naropa University.

I have always been plagued by the existential dilemma. I have this urgency to understand the absurdity of human existence; I want answers to the mysteries of life. This search for answers and transcendence led me down an experimental path, one that took an extremely unhealthy turn.
In the summer of 2006, I found myself mentally, physically, and emotionally ill. My subconscious knew that in order to escape addiction and save my life, I needed a drastic change in environment. Shortly thereafter I found myself living in South India, studying the culture, religion, philosophy, and mythology of this exotic land. In India I found a Hindu Acharya with whom I practiced yoga during the week. On the weekends, I traveled South India visiting holy sites of every world religion. During these five months in India, my spiritual and physical yoga practice began, allowing me to truly become aware of my body, mind, and spirit, beginning to understand the difference and connection between the three. This new-found awareness, intrigue, and balance was far superior to anything I had ever felt before.
After returning to the states, I devoted my time and energy to my yoga practice, studying many different styles of yoga and meditation. I completed Ana Forrest's intensive teacher training course in the Spring of 2008. I connected deeply to Ana's focus on yoga as a means of healing and her concentration on the body as a receptacle of emotional history.
My yoga practice has become the answer to my existential dilemma: feeling my breath, becoming aware of the tingling sensations of life inside me, and awakening to the fact that I hold the power to mentally, physically, and emotionally heal myself. I feel fortunate that I have the tools to teach this practice to others, showing them that they too can heal themselves, connect to their source, and feel vibrantly alive.
