GETTING STARTED

If it’s your first time please arrive at least 20 minutes before class starts to meet your teacher and fill out a new student form. This will give you time to change and relax on your mat before class.


Please bring a mat, towel and a bottle of water with you. We also rent mats and towels and sell bottled water.


Your yoga clothing should be  tight fitting exercise clothing that you can sweat in. If you intend showering after class please bring two towels. One for the class to go on top of your yoga mat and one for-showering.


It’s best not to eat for 2 hrs before class. Come well hydrated.

As a 1st time student you can do unlimited yoga for 1 week for $10. Thereafter we have a range of packages to suit everyone.

A simple guide to enhance your yoga experience

Arrive at least 15 minutes before class. All classes start on time. Once class starts, you will not be allowed in.

Please take your shoes off at the front door and put them in the shoe rack.

You must check in at the front desk before entering the studio for class.

The yoga room is a silent room. Please do not talk while in the yoga room both before and after class.

Do not leave the studio while class is in progress unless you need to visit the restroom.

Please do not bring mobile phones, shoes or bags into the yoga room. Lockers are provided for those items.

Tell your teacher about any injuries. This will help the teacher know how to adjust you or show you a modified pose if necessary.

Be aware that strong smelling perfume and body odor can be disturbing to fellow students. Please do not wear strong smelling scents and if you need to shower before class feel free to do so.


FAQ

I am not flexible is yoga for me?

The physical side of Yoga practice combines strength and flexibility. It’s not just about being flexible. A lot of inflexible people are strong but lack the full range of motion. If that’s you then Yoga is just what you need.

Is Yoga a challenging workout?

Yoga is far more then just a workout but on a physical level it can be very challenging. Most people are very surprised at how difficult it is. A strong core is the foundation. Learning breath control in the face of intense physical effort brings a sense of calm that moves beyond the mat and into everyday life.

Why is the room heated?

To  facilitate safe deep stretching and a promote sweating to aid detoxification. It relaxes the muscles and can have a calming centering effect on the mind. We add humidity to balance the heat. In the dry Colorado mountains it’s wonderful to breath clean humid air. A constant supply of fresh air is drawn into the room through a specially engineered heating system. It's important to drink a lot of water during the day and after class to avoid dehydration.

How many times per week should I practice?

As many times as you can. A regular practice has amazing benefits both physically and mentally. We suggest that you find a routine that works for you and your lifestyle. Ideally three classes a week and eventually a daily practice. Take your time and enjoy the process.

Is yoga a religion?

Yoga is not a religion. It is a philosophy that began in India an estimated 5,000 years ago. It is not necessary to surrender your own religious beliefs to practice yoga. Studying the Yoga scriptures may be something that enhances your understanding and enjoyment of Yoga. All you need to do is practice and “all is coming” (Sri K. Pattabhi Jois' Ashtanga yoga). Just show up on your mat, be present and see where it leads you.

What does Namaste mean?

In Yoga we believe that the divine or light or goodness is within each and everyone of us. Namaste is a Sanskrit greeting which means - The divine in me sees and recognizes and divine in you. We usually say this at the end of class as a way of recognizing the connection we all share.
